Announcements: EA fails at public servers

Wondered why you can't play in our server? Here's why:


There appears to be an EA Online outage affecting not only Bad Company 2, but other EA games as well. The EA UK forums also have some news about a new server build (R5) that is going out soon and will be applied by tomorrow evening.

DICE has also asked server providers to shut down all public servers and not setup anymore clan / rental servers while they work on optimizing the server browser.

Announcements: Webserver crashed.... Recovered from the 14th

Last night the web server crashed lagging out some servers and such, ultimately resulting in data loss and downtime for the web site and teamspeak. Unfortunately we had to revert to the latest backup taken last Sunday February 14th and as a result the web site has lost any new users and posts made since then. We apologize for this unusual occurrence and we are committed to bringing the best experience possible to the gamers and supporters of the Right To Rule Community. If anyone needs any help feel free to contact any member for assistance!

Special thanks goes out to Lolazor and The-Killer for taking the time out from today to rebuild the server from scratch giving me the opportunity to proudly announce that all services are backup and functioning! Again, sorry for the recent downtime and data loss, it seems we are having a bad stroke of luck lately with the BigBox..

Gaming: TF2 Server Maintenance

To try and reduce the lag being experienced occasionaly in our tf2 servers we are conducting some maintenance on the box that runs the tf2 servers. We hope to have all of the tf2 servers up for prime-time gaming tonight.

Website News: Network issues

Currently the colocation provider that houses our servers is experiencing network connectivity issues. There is no ETA as to when this will be resolved, however until there is there will be packet loss, slow game server and website response times, and just general suckiness.

Sorry folks, out of our control!

10-28 Update - They have "rushed" a replacement for the network hardware that experienced a failure, and this should be replaced in the next 24 hours at which time network performance should return to normal.

Activison/Blizzard a heartless company

Thought I would share this link with the community, especially in light of their recent debacle over Modern Warfare 2, this only goes to reinforce everyones sentiments that Activision is one of the most heartless companies around, and its sad that Infinity Ward  who did an awesome job on MW1 had to succomb to Activision's pressuring.

         I have been using this pad for about a week now and i have to say, after some getting used to the flexibility this keyboard introduces into your game play is astounding. Within seconds i can configure any key i desire to perform an array of functions and commands or simply mimic the current key mappings from my keyboard. This game pad has three modes each providing a beautiful custom back light color and a clean slate for our adventurous macro recording minds to setup complex one touch easy access to frequently performs tasks. Each game you play, the software loads a new "Profile" allowing you to fully program the G13 keys for each game and not have to carry around one standard key set. The best part is the on board storage that you can copy your profiles onto and take them with you, so you never have to worry about the constant reconfiguration that would normally take place every time you switched computers or software configurations. As with all products there seems to be a few things you would like to change and i myself have a few. One personal quirk that i have found to be slightly annoying but not unusable is the thumb stick. There is actually a button you can press if you push it down hard enough, but because of the shape and design of the thumb stick  your thumb doesn't typically provide enough force to depress on the fly leaving you "trying" to push it down. I have found that your normal TAB key is hard to find on this controller without training yourself to look for a smaller key, normally pressing in between G8 and G9. Having a great new piece of hardware looks nice on the desk but you also need to remember the space requirements as you will need to keep your keyboard handy for typing and performing normal functions. You have to keep in mind this is not in anyway a keyboard replacement and if your like me using the original blue G15 keyboard, space on my keyboard tray is already in high demand.

I think this new game pad provides the user with a gaming experience like no other and was deficiently crafted for the elite gamer in mind. It fits any color decor and will quickly attach itself to you like a new pair of lucky socks giving you superior control over your enemy.

 October is here and in full swing!  Hope you got your costume together, because Halloween is only 25 days away!  Yours truly will be going as the funkadelic kung-fu master, Chocolate Jones.  When the end comes, he won't notice, because he will be too busy looking good.

 

For you console gamers out there, here is my official endorsement:  BRUTAL LEGEND deserves a definite rental if not a purchase.  Tim Schafer is involved, the same Tim Schafer that brougt us Monkey Island, so you know there will be clever dialogue and intriguing plotlines.  The demo is currently available for PS3 and XBOX360 consoles.  Be forewarned...once downloaded, you will be wanted to ROCK

Also, for those who did NOT lose their training bras when Valve made a sequel to Left 4 Dead, if you act now, you can preorder Left 4 Dead 2 and get 10 percent off at the Steam store. Of course if you have 4 friends (and if you're in RTR you will) you can get the 4 pack and save over 11 bucks per game! I don't know about you, but I am ready to slay some clowns and bitchslap some more tanks down in N'Orleans.

Gaming: Where's YOUR halo?

Hey there once again folks! It's the guy you love to hate with some 'news you can use': AKU.

 One of the biggest controversies this past week was the decision of Valve to crackdown on people breaking TOS and using idler programs to get all those pretty hats in Team Fortress 2.  Their punishment was to have the illgotten items taken away.  Those who were honest, got special halo hats for their accounts.  Now, no matter which side of the argument you're on, idler programs are against TOS and the company retains the right to punish as they see fit.  Now, after having said that...people, they are hats.  Hats that add nothing but aesthetic appeal.  Relax, kthxbai.

 

In other news,  huge MMO released last week:  Champions Online.  Yours truly plays occasionally (add me: akumanoko) and so far, the game is quite entertaining. The character customization and powers selection are exquisite.  The only complaint I have so far is lack of attempt to make me CARE about most of the missions.  Besides that, the game is great and is an excellent diversion from WOW or any other poison you sit down at your computer to take.

 As for you LEFT 4 DEAD players: a new special infected was unveiled: The Jockey.  Imagine leaping onto your prey and riding them away from their friends. That's the jockey.  A useful special for splitting up close-knit groups.  I can so see a jockey, spitter, hunter, smoker combo in my future.

Website News: Welcome to the NEW Right To Rule Website!

Well everyone, its been a long week fighting to convert our old site but we did it! The site now provides alot of new functionality for our users including a personal picture gallery and video posting. As a result of the massive forum conversion many users will unfortunately need to reset signatures and avatars in result of the new system upgrade. Good news is all user accounts, user groups, forum posts, and news articles were retained in the conversion process. If you encounter any errors or simply anything that doesn't look correct please email so we can get these resolved. :) Alot of cleaning up is still in the works so check back daily to see the new features as they all get implemented. *UPDATE* - If you have not noticed these past few days the site has not been working correctly. These problems have hopefully been resolved now, test it out and provide some feedback. Thank you!
